Welcome! Thank you for your interest in the Bethel Suburban Ecovillage Project! Please
join our discussion group at: ************************************************************** Bethel Suburban Ecovillage is in the earliest stage of development. We currently have four member households and two parties actively searching for a suitable property to purchase within the Ecovillage Project Area. Three of our member households rent rooms to like-minded folk. Our goal is to blend the best aspects of intentional community living with established concepts of private ownership and autonomy, transforming the American Suburb into a livable, human environment. The Ecovillage is comprised of privately owned households within a loosely defined geographical area. We actively "recruit" sustainably/community-minded buyers for properties that come up for sale in our area. Specifically, we seek to protect the remaining large properties in our area from subdivision and development. We also seek ways to gently bring our presence and intentions to the attention of our current neighbors. With time, we hope that our example of healthy, happy, community living will encourage them to ask questions and join us in some of our community activities. Each member of the community will participate "in community" at whatever level feels comfortable. The community will come together around what unites us while respecting one another's differences and private space. Our focus is on Community Building, Cooperative Ventures and retrofitting existing properties into more environmentally friendly habitats, using the time-tested concepts of ecological design. We do not have any "community" spaces, land or buildings at this time. Our hope is that, eventually, the community will have enough members and resources to purchase a property for use as a community center, with a large meeting area, kitchen, workshops, guest rooms, parking for community-shared vehicles, tool/equipment inventory, etc. Many properties on lots over 7,000 s.f. are for sale in the Project Area and surrounding areas. We encourage participation from anyone who lives close enough to bike or walk to any of our functions. If
you need a real estate agent, we highly recommend Ben Mondragon, Jr.
